OK, here is BB & The Bullets' second album, just 7 months after their debut album “High Tide”. While “High Tide” established the band's firm grip on the contemporary blues genre, this sophomore effort sees them digging in harder and exploring their limits. The big drums are bigger, the guitars are allowed to stretch out the solos, and the bass locks it all together. 10 great original songs and one very energetic cover of Peter Greens “Oh Well”, that sounds as if Led Zeppelin could’ve snuck it into the studio in 1974. The boys have been gigging relentlessly, it's amazing they found the time to record but the result is an album that sounds road-worn and gritty. There’s a live energy to this set of recordings and a joy radiating from a real human blues rock band in these AI days. BB & The Bullets take the blues to the places Led Zeppelin, Peter Green, Jeff Beck and many others were pointing to. But they do so with a very Kiwi approach: individual, raw and honest, with modern influences and some of the rough edges have been deliberately left on. It leaves the listener feeling as if they were part of the band, part of the story. This is an incredibly strong album that, if you’re a lover of both British Blues and Kiwi Rock, should definitely be in your collection.
