The debut album from Stones Throw Records' rap group Lootpack released on June 29, 1999. Lootpack consists of DJ Romes, Wildchild and Madlib. Soundpieces showcases some of Madlib’s most eccentric, crate-digging production skills. The album gives a fairly early glimpse of the Beat Konducta at work on the boards. The beats on Soundpieces are minimalist, in comparison to some of his later work, and includes grooves that are instantly recognisable. Madlib samples an array of artists; Miles Davis, Al Green, Mavis Staples, KRS-One, the Wu-Tang Clan, Big Daddy Kane, Boogie Down Productions and many more on this imaginative masterpiece.
